Seagull Coastline S6 Slim CW Spruce QI Guitar Feature

  • Made in North America
  • Select Pressure Tested Top
  • Double Action Truss Rod
  • Tapered Headstock for precise and stable tuning and great for open tunings
  • Tusq nut and compensated saddle for better intonation

Seagull Coastline S6 Slim CW Spruce QI Guitar –
Bright Sound with a Traditional Feel

The Coastline S6 Slim CW Spruce QI is an ideal choice for players who prefer the brighter (more high frequencies) sound of a Select Solid Spruce top, as well as the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand finished neck with a more traditional nut width feel. The cutaway and Quantum I electronics also make this a great choice for the gigging musician.

Coastline Series

The guitars that make up the Seagull Coastline series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Coastline series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also a choice. Coastline series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

The Compound Curve Top

The guitar top is the part of the instrument that most affects the sound. It is also the most delicate part of any high quality acoustic guitar. The grade and thickness of the wood used (solid spruce), as well as the bracing structure, have a huge impact on the instrument's sound. The idea of applying an arch or a curve to the top is appealing because the added strength of an arched top should allow for the use of a thinner and more lightly braced top. While this is true, there remains a trade-off in applying a curve to the entire top. The most active part of the top is the area centered on the bridge. Applying a curve to this part of the top restricts movement resulting in a loss of dynamic range. On the other hand, the area of the top above the sound hole moves minimally but is problematic because it tends to sink if the guitar dries out even slightly. This tendency is also encouraged by downward pressure from the fingerboard resting on top of it. The solution is a top that has a compound curve.

In the Seagull Performer's design the top is arched slightly in the area above the sound hole and levels out in the area around the bridge. The compound curve top produces excellent stability in the upper part of the guitar top and the power and projection made possible by leaving the top flat below the sound hole flat. With the weak area above the sound hole stabilized, it is possible to make the rest of the top even more active with a new bracing design that allows unprecedented control over the top vibration. The bracing for the Seagull Performer Cutaway Flame Maple High-Gloss QI Guitar is quarter-sawn spruce, scalloped and carved to conform exactly to the curvature of the tops.

Godin QI Electronics

The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy to use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.

A History of Quality

In 1982 Robert Godin and a few friends produced the first Seagull guitars in the Village of LaPatrie, Quebec. The concept for the Seagull guitar was to take the essential components of the best hand-crafted guitars (such as solid tops and beautiful finishes) and build these features into guitars that could be priced within the reach of working musicians. Of course there is much more to a great guitar than a solid top with a special finish, so we produced this illustrated guide to help you gain some understanding of the basic elements of a great sounding acoustic guitar.

The Seagull story wouldn't be complete without mentioning La Patrie. La Patrie is a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This is where the first Seagulls were made in the early eighties. Today, La Patrie has a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. These folks take a great deal of pride in the guitars they build. Pick one up and you'll see why.

Seagull S6 Original Slim QI Guitar

Seagull S6 Original Slim QI Guitar Review

Seagull S6 Original Slim QI Guitar Feature

The Seagull S6 Guitar--The Original, But Slimmer and with Godin Q1

Winner of several awards, the S6 is perhaps the instrument that best represents the Seagull philosophy. The S6 Slim offers entry level players the opportunity to experience the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand finished neck with a more traditional nut width feel, aswell as a select solid Cedar top and a Custom Polished finish.

The back and sides are constructed of wild cherry, the neck of silver-leaf maple, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

Seagull guitars all feature Tusq nuts and saddles. The fully compensated saddle helps the Seagull S6 original acoustic guitar play beautifully in-tune all over the neck.

The Seagull S6 Original Slim: A Slimmer, Trimmer Acoustic Guitar

Most of us think we could all use a slightly slimmer, trimmer version of ourselves (especially as the holiday season comes and goes). However, does this also translate to your acoustic guitar? Well, why not?

Godin Guitars, the Canadian manufacturers of Seagull acoustic guitars, has put this idea into motion after realizing that certain players love the S6 Original but prefer a more traditional feeling nut width. So, Godin made it happen.

The S6 Original Slim features a comfortable, slimmer than traditional 1.72" (4.37 cm) nut width. The same nut width as its parlor sized little friend with the big sound, the Seagull Grand. The Slims cream binding also helps differentiate this model from its S6 Original counterpart. The combination of the solid cedar top and wild cherry back & sides gives this guitar a full, warm contoured sound, further accentuated by the comfort of the silver leaf maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and double function truss rod. Another key characteristic to these guitars, as with all Seagull guitars, is the use of genuine lacquer finish, which enables the top to breathe and vibrate freely. This in turn promotes the aging process of the guitar, meaning that your instrument will actually sound better the more it is played over time.

The S6 Original Slim keeps with the same high standards of quality and musicality, which has garnered the ever-popular S6 Original many accolades and awards since its early beginnings.

The Perfect Neck Angle

Neck angle has a tremendous effect on guitar tone. The Seagull re-design served as the impetus for several refinements to Godin’s neck matching technology. Bodies and necks are now matched with incredible precision and the new compound curve in the top provides the additional stability necessary to achieve and maintain optimum neck pitch.

Maritime 'SWS' Mini Jumbo High-Gloss

The Maritime SWS Mini-Jumbo HG, as with all SWS models, features all solid wood construction with a Select Pressure Tested solid spruce top and solid mahogany back & sides. This guitar provides an excellent full-range of tone including a lively mid-range due to the combination of a larger lower bout, a more narrow waist and slightly thinner body depth. The Maritime SWS Folk HG also features a high-gloss Custom Polished Finish. This finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age - a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging. Acoustic Guitar

Seagull Coastline S12 Cedar Guitar – Superior Construction

The Seagull Coastline S12 is a 12-String acoustic-electric dreadnought guitar with rich, full sound that only a quality 12-string guitar can produce. With a warm mid-range tone and of course, the award winning craftsmanship and value for which Seagull is known, the S12 features an ultra thin semi-gloss finish, a select pressure tested solid cedar top, and built-in Godin QI electronics that let you hit the stage fully loaded for any venue.

Coastline Cedar 12 String

Twelve string guitars must endure a great deal of added stress on the neck. The Seagull neck design offers superior stability, even on the twelve string models tuned to concert pitch. The straight string pull of the tapered Seagull headstock is an especially big advantage when it comes to tuning a twelve string guitar and keeping it in tune.

Seagull Coastline S6 Folk Cedar Guitar – Excellent Student Guitar

This Seagull Coastline Cedar Folk Acoustic Guitar is a concert-sized model based on the dimensions of a classical guitar. The smaller body enhances the Folk guitar's mid-range sound. The Seagull Coastline Folk is an excellent guitar for fingerstyle playing. The width and low profile of the neck make it very comfortable to play on. The Solid cedar top produces a nice warm quality tone, and when combined with wild cherry back/sides produces a good midrange, less bass and good treble. This is a very good guitar for learning acoustic blues, jazz and popular melodic tunes.
